The Grounding Exercise
Listen to music.
Draw a picture.
Write in a journal.
Use a fidget tool that makes you feel relaxed and calm.
Take a walk outside and notice the nature around you.
Work a puzzle.
Play a game.
Get a drink of water.
Have a healthy snack.
Play outside.
Stretch your body.
Dance.
Find 5 objects of one color.
Count to 10 slowly.
Read something you enjoy.
Think of a happy memory or something you're really looking forward to.
Use positive self-talk like affirmations.
(Examples: I forgive myself for my mistakes, I believe in myself, I am a good person, I can do hard things, etc.)
Take a nap.
Talk about your feelings with a trusted friend or grown up.
Get or give a hug.
Use the online sand tray. You can free play or create something that represents how you are feeling or what it would look like if your problem was fixed.
