Welcome to the American International School Dhaka, where we eagerly await your arrival for three days of immersion in the visual arts at this year's SAISA Art.

You might be surprised to learn that Dhaka has a rich visual art scene. With its mix of cultural influences, ancient traditions of Bengali art, and a recent history of struggle and challenge, the people of Bangladesh use visual art extensively as their "voice" to the world. It's powerful stuff, and as artists and guests in the country, you'll be exposed to a range of colors, textures, and emotions, reflecting the resilience, diversity, and aspirations of its people.

But this experience is not just about observing art; it's about creating it, too. Our teachers and guest artists will challenge you to push the boundaries of your artistic expression, to experiment with new techniques and mediums, and to collaborate with fellow artists from other SAISA schools. Come ready to be provoked, inspired, and transformed, to share the skills and talents you possess, and to bring joy to your peers through art.

Welcome to Bangladesh, the American International School of Dhaka and to the 2024 SAISA Art Festival. We are so happy that you are here to color our world through your ART and your building of relationships. Throughout this weekend you are sure to broaden your horizons as you refine your craft, experience the colorful sound and fury of Bangladesh and  interact with people like yourself  from all over the world.

SAISA Art Festivals allow participants to  pursue excellence, rekindle relationships and to push the limits of what is possible in their chosen endeavor. Creating art is about more than the final product - it is about developing confidence, refining technique, and embracing challenge.  You will grow as a person and an artist throughout these 3 days.

A typical school year is  filled with hard work and sacrifice. Appreciate your time here and the people you meet - this is your reward.  Create with passion,  interact  with character, and laugh freely. As we engage in this festival, learning more about art, about Bangladesh and about ourselves – please reflect on the role a creative lifestyle plays in promoting a life of wonder and possibility and be grateful for the moments and memories you are making.
