Our names are Tia, Angela, and Noor. We are grade five students at AIS Kuwait. We are working on our PYP exhibition project, about gender equality.
My name is Tia, I'm ten and I'm from Lebanon. I picked gender equality as my topic, because as a young women I think women are equal to men in all fields of life. I think it's not fair that people are discriminated, underestimated, and abused just because of their gender. Gender equality has always been and always will be a interesting topic to me. Learning about gender equality has made me look at different perspectives on a topic and how they can be so different then mine. I'm glad I picked gender equality as my topic, because learning more has made me want to make a difference. I believe that women are no different from men. I agree that sometimes they may have different preferences, but I don't believe that they can't have the same ones. Women are very unique, and so are men. No matter what science proves I will always believe in human rights for all. I will never give up on the fact that women are humans to, and always will be!
My name is Angela, I'm eleven and I'm from Syria. I picked gender equality, because I think it's not fair how people underestimate women, and as Tia said they discriminate and abuse people just because of their gender. I picked gender equality, because i'm interested and I will always be in why some people think women can't do the same things men can. I decided to pick gender equality, because I want to make a difference in the world, such as encourage other women to advocate in many cultures, as said in our central idea. Women are no different than men, that's why I think men and women should be equal. I think people should be focusing on interests, rather than gender, because not every women is the same, and not every man is the same. Women might want to do things that people say are for men, or vice versa, depends on their interests. I think men and women should be equal, because we all have to pull the same weight in order to make our society run. We are not scared to show who we are and encourage other women to fight for their rights, because we are all human and we all deserve the same things!
My name is Noor, I'm eleven and I'm from Kuwait. I picked gender equality as my exhibition topic, because I would like to make a change in the world. I have experienced gender inequality and also have seen it a lot, sometimes gender inequality goes as far as firing a woman because of pregnancy, or rejecting a woman from a certain job or task. It also goes as far as hurting a woman emotionally and/or physically. I would like it to stop young marriages, violence against women and girls, and stopping discrimination in all. I don't think it's fair to discriminate anyone based on their gender, because we are all humans, so we have to stop this nonsense, its time to change and change starts with you.
