The Mathematical Skills and Competencies for Employment (MSCE) course is a SACE endorsed with 35 points. The intended outcomes of the MSCE course are to empower teachers to upgrade their own knowledge of mathematics so that they have a deep understanding of the content of school mathematics and how it can be used and applied, upgrade their own knowledge of pedagogy and education technology skills; run collaborative professional development workshops for other teachers using AIMSSEC resources; take a leadership role in their schools in working collaboratively with other teachers to improve standards of teaching and learning and the attainment of their students. Students on the MSCE course gain a thorough understanding of the CAPS mathematics curriculum content for Grades 7–9 for the Senior Phase (SP) and Grades 10-12 for the FET phase and associated pedagogy building on from the Mathematical Thinking, Differentiation and Inclusion in the Mathematics Classroom and Mathematical Communication and Langauge courses.

Although there will be social events in the evenings, quiet time will be set aside for study.
