German Research Chair at AIMS Rwanda, in Kigali, Rwanda.
He received his B.Sc. degree in Mathematics in 1987 and M.Sc. degree in Applied Optimization in 1995 from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computational Optimization in 2004 and Habilitus (professional qualification) in Systems Optimization in 2018, both from the Technology University of Ilmenau, Germany.
Dr. Geletu worked as a lecturer from 1989 to 1998 at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. Prior to joining AIMS in September 2021, for 24 years he was an academic staff and a senior research scientist in applied mathematics, numerical methods of optimization, stochastic optimization, control engineering, data-driven optimization, machine learning, image processing, and computer vision, etc. with applications in engineering sciences at the Technology University of Ilmenau, Germany. His current research focus includes systems optimization for sustainable resources utilization in Africa, multidisciplinary research and development for addressing engineering problems, AI, and Data-driven approaches to complex problems.
A professor of Control and Systems Engineering at the Technology University of Ilmenau, Germany. Pu Li received his M.Eng degree from Zhejiang University, China, in 1989 and his Ph.D. degree from Technology University of Berlin, Germany, in 1998. He was a senior researcher at TU Berlin from 1998 to 2005. Now he is a Full Professor at the Ilmenau University of Technology and chair of the Processes Optimization Group at the Institute for Automation and Systems Engineering of TU Ilmenau. His research interests include process systems engineering, i.e. modeling, simulation, optimization, and control of industrial processes. In particular, novel approaches to dynamic optimization, stochastic optimization, and online optimization have been developed and applied to various industrial processes, autonomous vehicles, and sustainability systems by his research group.
An Assistant Professor of Water Systems and Control Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences in the Technology University of Delft, the Netherlands.
Prior to joining TU Delft in 2016, Dr. Abraham was a research associate in the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Group at the Imperial College London, UK. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Control Engineering (Aeronautics) and First-class honors. MEng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He received both the MEng. and Ph.D. degrees from Imperial College London, UK, in 2008 and 2013, respectively.
His research focus is mainly on applications of numerical optimization methods, control engineering, and systems theory applications to advance water management, environmental engineering, and their nexus with energy and agriculture sectors. Some of his research activities deal with the operational optimization of multipurpose, optimization and control for irrigation and water allocation, optimization of cropping patterns, and infrastructure assessment - most within the context of the water-energy-food nexus. Within urban water systems, his research work focuses on optimal control and fault diagnosis for drinking water distribution networks, the urban nexus of heating systems, and energy transitions.
