Directions for the Decades Project
You will choose your groups for this project.
(There are 6 Decades: 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s)
Each person will be responsible for gathering and sharing information for the following 6 items:
1 - Achieved Domestic Policy
1 - Failed Domestic Policy
1 - Achieved Foreign Policy
1 - Failed Foreign Policy
1 - Left/Right Issue Comparison
1 - Significant Cultural Event/Item
1 - Test Question (Some students may have to create 2 questions.)
Each group is responsible for creating 6 test questions from the list given.
Make a project like a (pamphlet, booklet, website, presentation, or webquest) on your chosen decade.
Presentations to the Class
Understanding the Project's Goal:
The project aims to give you a comprehensive understanding of a specific decade by examining its political, social, and cultural aspects. You'll be working in groups to research and present your findings.

Here's a detailed look at each of the seven items you're responsible for:
6 Final Test Questions for the Decade:
This should be a significant, thought-provoking question from the 6 items provided.
Achieved Domestic Policy:
Identify a significant domestic policy (laws, programs, initiatives) that was successfully implemented during the decade.
Explain what the policy was, its goals, and its actual impact.
Example (for the 2010s): The Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Failed Domestic Policy:
Identify a domestic policy that was proposed or attempted but failed to be implemented.
Explain why it failed (political opposition, lack of public support, etc.).
Example (for the 1990's): comprehensive healthcare reform under the Clinton Administration.
Achieved Foreign Policy:
Identify a successful foreign policy initiative of the decade.
Explain the goals, actions taken, and the results.
Example (for the 1970's) The Camp David Accords.
Failed Foreign Policy:
Identify a failed foreign policy initiative.
Explain the goals, why it failed, and its consequences.
Example (for the 2000's) Success in stabilizing Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
An Issue that Compares and Contrasts the Left and Right Political Positions:
Choose a major political issue of the decade.
Clearly outline the differing viewpoints of the left and right (Democrats and Republicans, or other relevant political factions).
Provide specific examples of how these positions were expressed.
Example (for the 2020's) differing views on climate change policy.
An Event or Item in the Realm of Entertainment TV, Movies, Music, Sports, Technology, etc…:
Choose a significant cultural event or item that defined the decade.
Explain its impact on society and its relevance to the decade.
Example (for the 1980's) The rise of MTV.
Example (for the 2010's) The rise of social media.
Project Format:
You have flexibility in how you present your findings:
Pamphlet: A folded document with concise information and visuals.
Booklet: A small book with more detailed content.

Presentation: A slideshow with visuals and oral explanations.
Webquest: An interactive online activity that guides users through your research.
