This is Abbey's eighth year as the librarian at AHS; ninth year overall as a licensed school librarian working in Anoka-Hennepin schools. Previously, she spent 10 years teaching eighth grade social studies at AMSA, Sandburg, and Oak View.
Kathy and Abbey met working in the library at Ramsey Elementary, where they became fast friends. :) Prior to her role as a library para, Kathy worked for eight years as a kindergarten prep para at Peter Enich and Ramsey Elementary. This is Kathy's eighth year at AHS.
What does a school librarian do, exactly?
My role is best understood by identifying librarianship in two categories: people and things. I am both an educator who works with students and staff to maximize learning, and a manager/administrator of library materials. I love to partner with students and teachers to recommend books, teach research skills, assist in the classroom, work with small groups of students, and more. I have worked with a number of content areas and would love to find new ways to work with all of you. Stop by the library or send me an email if you've got an idea to explore!
