Guest Speaker Mike Branch, will describe a six-step action plan to help you pay less for college.  

Labor Market Trends: Where are the Jobs? This session is offered in two time slots.

Tim O’Neill, Regional Analyst at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) , will spend this session discussing trends in the Minnesota labor market. Many of these trends are promising for students interested in pursuing a career requiring short-term or technical education.

How Do I Figure Out What I Want To Do for My Career? This session is offered in two time slots.

It can be challenging to figure out your future. Learn about the important questions to ask yourself, resources available to help you discover what you want in life, and ways to help you get there. 

Trades and Apprenticeships

A panel of experts that represent various trades and apprenticeships will discuss these career pathways.  Attendees will learn about resources to help guide youth, parents, and job seekers on the opportunities available in the skilled trades and how to begin the application process.

Military Pathways

The military offers a variety of possible career options, including helping to pay for college, learning a job skill that can transfer to the civilian market or pursuing a military career for its own benefits. This session will offer more information about military career options and the benefits of military service from Anoka-Hennepin past and present students.

 Why STEP might be a great option

The Anoka-Hennepin Secondary Technical Education Program is a middle place between high school and college that provides relevant education to prepare students for the high tech, high skill workplace of the 21st century.  In this session, learn about the many course options available to students in grades 10-12 and discover why this might be a great opportunity for students.

In this candid conversation, a panel of recent Anoka-Hennepin graduates will give advice on the ins and outs of a successful post-secondary experience and share insight for current high school students.
