Yes, the cut-off point for AHS includes the bonus points for HCL because AHS is an SAP school. Hence, if a student obtains a distinction for Higher Chinese, 3 bonus points can be added to the T-score for entry to an SAP school. E.g. 242+3=245
AHS does not have affiliated primary schools. The affiliated JC is St. Andrew’s JC.
Students may apply for their secondary schools via the Secondary One-Internet System (S1-IS) from 11am on the next day after the release of the PSLE results.
No, it is not compulsory for AHS students to offer HCL.
Students who wish to take HCL must have the letter of eligibility from MOE to take HCL at secondary school. The programme also aims to develop these students to become effectively bilingual so as to better serve the needs of our nation. Students from the CLEP-Sec centres will jointly attend two signature activities organised by MOE. A one to two-day camp will be held locally during the June holidays of Secondary 3 with a focus on Post-Secondary Educational Institutions’ (PSEI) MTL Pathways and CL-related interests. A one to two-week overseas immersion programme will be organised towards the end of Secondary 3. Students will also participate in school-based activities and programmes such as Literary lectures, Meet-the-Author sessions, enrichment workshops, project work competition etc.
At the end of Secondary 2, students must obtain at least:
Grade B3 in Higher Chinese (HCL) or
Grade A2 in Chinese (CL).
Students who apply for CLEP-JC via the JAE are eligible to enjoy 2 LEP bonus points for admission to the respective JC
No, AHS offers a holistic quality 4-year program leading to the ‘O’ level exams, with most of our students achieving very good ‘O’ level results – their passport to qualifying for the good JCs. In the four years here, your child’s learning will be stretched through the Parallel Curriculum Model and differentiated instruction. There are also various learning experiences that build up their 21st Century Competencies.
AHSMB Scholarship is open to all incoming Secondary 1 students. The quota of AHSMB Scholarships will be capped at 5% of AHS’ secondary 1 enrolment.
Scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:
Applicants must be Primary 6 students in a local school in the year 2020
Applicants must be among top 5% of AHS’ Secondary 1 cohort in terms of academic excellence
Applicants must attain a conduct grade of very good or better
Applicants must, on a consistent basis, demonstrate good character and values
Applicants must assume leadership appointments in class, CCAs or school.

School starts at 7.45am and usually ends at 1.30pm with the exception of one day at 3.15pm for Sec One students. There will be one recess break.
There are 22 CCAs in the Sports, Performing Arts, Uniformed Groups and Clubs.
CCAs are usually held on Friday afternoons. Some CCAs may have an extra practice day on one other weekday. When competitions draw close, some CCAs may have trainings up to 3 days a week.

We aim to distribute students evenly to their classes. There is no best class.
All students will attend Conversational Malay lessons, within curriculum time. This is a non-examinable subject that teaches students basic Malay. This is not a third language subject.
Malay Special Programme is conducted at AHS itself. The programme will prepare pupils for the MSP examination at GCE ‘O’ Level. MSP lessons are held after school. Students offering other 3rd Languages (Japanese, Bahasa Indonesia, Arabic etc) will attend lessons at MOE Language Centre (Newton or Bishan).
Yes, your child can change the 3rd language offered, subject to eligibility criteria and available vacancies. You have to go down personally to MOE Language Centre at Newton or Bishan to obtain the “Change of Language” form. You will be placed on a waiting list if there are no more vacancies for the 3rd language you want to change to. In addition, in order to change to foreign languages such as Japanese, German, French, your child must be in the top 10% of the PSLE cohort. Submission of the form must be done by end December.
Yes. You may go down to MOE Language Centre to obtain the “Late Application” form. Late applications for 3rd Language should be submitted by end December 2020. Please note the criteria for offering the various 3rd Languages.
Foreign Language (French/ German/ Japanese/ Spanish)
To be eligible to apply to study a Foreign Language as a Third Language, applicants must satisfy all three criteria:
Students must be ranked in the top 10% of their Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) cohort.
They must be a Singapore Citizen (SC) or Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR), or the child of a SC/SPR.
They must have offered a Mother Tongue Language at the PSLE.
For students interested in Japanese, their Mother Tongue Language must be Higher Chinese/Chinese, as the standard written form of Japanese uses "Kanji" or Chinese characters. In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, applicants will be selected by merit based on their PSLE results.
Asian Language as a Third Language (Malay Special Programme / Bahasa Indonesia / Arabic)
Academic criteria :
To apply for an Asian Language course, students must have gained admission to the Express or Normal (Academic) course.
Nationality criteria:
For Arabic/Indonesian, students must be a Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident, or the child of a SC/SPR.
Prior language knowledge criteria:
For Malay (Special Programme) and Indonesian, students are not eligible to apply if they have offered Malay / Higher Malay at PSLE (or equivalent).
Yes. Students who show the aptitude can offer Music or Higher Music as an ‘O’ level subject.
Universal values such as respect, responsibility and loyalty are taught through various platforms such as CCE lessons and CCA trainings. The school also uses assembly programmes to reinforce these values with stories drawn from the Bible.
