We hope that you have had a very enjoyable summer break. We were absolutely thrilled with our exams results this summer and have shared more details below.

Over the summer holiday, whilst most of us have been enjoying ourselves, many of our staff have been busy preparing for the new academic year; we are very grateful to them for all their hard work!

A Levels Results
We are delighted to announce an excellent set of A Level exam results for the Summer 2025 cohort, which are a credit to our students, staff and parents. Ultimately, we are most excited about the opportunities that these grades will unlock for all of our students.
Whilst grades are important, at AHS our focus is on the opportunities that these grades offer our students, the facilitation of their ‘next steps’. Our students will be leaving us to study at a wide variety of different institutions, reflecting the careful research and decision making that our students have done to help secure their futures. Highlights of this year's destinations include 26 embarking on degrees in medicine, dentistry, and veterinary science. We are immensely proud of all the well informed decisions our students have made for their next steps; as well as the familiar subject choices, our students will study degree courses in subjects as diverse as Architecture, Paleontology and Geology, Forensic Science, Childhood Studies, Music Business, Music Management, Law, Marketing, Digital Media, and Mechanical Engineering.
We are delighted that several students have secured prestigious degree apprenticeships to begin their careers with a range of organisations including British Airways and Lloyds Bank.
GCSE Results
We are also delighted to announce another truly exceptional set of GCSE results for our Year 11 students. The results are a testament to the students’ resilience and dedication, as well as the unwavering support from staff and families.
31% of all the GCSEs taken by AHS students resulted in a grade 9. This was the highest of all the Bucks Schools!
Initial data shows that on average AHS students achieved significantly over a grade more per subject than the Department of Education expected.
The school is now focused on supporting its students as they embark on their next steps, with these results opening up a wide range of exciting opportunities for their future.

Welcome to the new school year from the Aylesbury High School Parents Association (AHSA)! We are a friendly group of parents and carers who organise community events to raise vital funds for our school, directly enriching our students' learning environment. Thanks to your support, past fundraising efforts have provided the school with smart screens, new microscopes, outdoor benches, and books for the library as a few examples. We hold monthly online meetings from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM to plan upcoming events and discuss new initiatives, and we would love for you to join us. If you are interested in getting involved or want to get set up on Classlist—our primary communication channel for parents—please reach out to ahsachair@ahs.bucks.sch.uk for details.

Ten students from our Eco Club visited a nearby solar farm and met with a solar engineer.
They were shown around and guided through how the farm works and advised on career opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The biodiversity of the site was also investigated with some bug catching.

Huge congratulations to Gabriella, who has been crowned the England Athletics U16 800m National Champion! Demonstrating incredible maturity and racecraft, Gabriella won her heat with a blazing time of 2:10.93 to enter the final as the top seed. She then executed a brilliantly tactical final, smartly shielding herself from strong winds on the back straight before timing a magnificent kick to take the national title in 2:12.51. We are immensely proud of her hard work, grit, and phenomenal achievement!

I hope you all had a restful, sun-filled summer break. A very warm welcome to our new Year 7 and Year 12 students joining the Aylesbury High School family, as well as to all of our returning year groups. Starting a new academic year brings fresh energy, exciting possibilities, and sometimes a few butterflies - no matter what stage of the school journey your child is at.

As your Senior Mental Health Lead (SMHL) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), I am privileged to lead a dedicated team here to support every student’s mental health, safety, and happiness:

Wellbeing is a community effort. We encourage our students to look out for one another, build strong, inclusive friendships, and remember that asking for help is a sign of strength. For parents and carers, your guidance during these transition periods is invaluable - whether your child is taking their very first steps in secondary school or preparing for their final years in Sixth Form.

School Catering Updates: September 2026
School Catering Updates: September 2026
Please see important updates regarding our school catering services, effective from September 2026, including a minor tariff adjustment and a new digital system for lunch funds.
Catering Tariff Adjustment
Due to recent increases in the national minimum wage and food inflation, our catering provider, Pabulum, will be making a small adjustment to school meal tariffs. Pabulum continually endeavours to manage costs and keep any increases to a minimum.
New Digital Emergency Lunch Fund System
We are discontinuing the paper "yellow slip" system previously used when students forgot or ran out of lunch money. Instead, we are introducing a streamlined digital overdraft allowance directly across all student accounts:
Automatic £5 Overdraft: Students no longer need to visit the main office for a physical slip. Every account will automatically permit an overdraft of up to £5, allowing students to purchase a standard meal without interruption in the lunch queue.
Account Top-Ups: Please top up your child’s account via ParentMail whenever it enters a negative balance. You will receive an automated prompt as the balance approaches zero.
Overdraft Limit: Once an account reaches the £5 overdraft limit, further meal purchases will be blocked until the outstanding amount is cleared.
This updated process will minimise administrative delays and ensure students receive a warm meal without unnecessary inconvenience.

We would like to share an important safety reminder, particularly for our new families who may not yet be aware of this concern.
Please ensure your daughter does not wait to be collected outside the Probation Service building at the Wynne Jones Centre, located near the Tesco roundabout. Both the Probation Service and AHS strongly advise against using this location as a pickup spot due to safety concerns, as the Centre has a continuous flow of individuals on probation or recently released from prison throughout the day.
We will be speaking to students in upcoming assemblies to remind them of safe, designated waiting areas. In the meantime, we would be very grateful if you could discuss this with your daughter and arrange an alternative, safer meeting point well away from the Centre. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.
Once again, we are delighted to welcome our students back this week, it is a joy to have the School 'working' again.
