Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you have had a lovely week.

This week we hosted the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, which saw 70 students from Years 11,12 and 13 take part in a 90 minute challenge that gets them to problem solve and think outside the box. This is a great opportunity for students to think about and enjoy Maths in a different way. We look forward to receiving the results of the challenge and seeing if any of our students have been invited to compete in the follow on rounds.

We were also very lucky to have Adebanje Alade, our visiting artist, who worked with our Years 12 and 13 students in developing their portraiture skills; please see some of the amazing results below.

A busy week for our sports teams too: Our Under 13s football team played The Grange (L4-1) and our Year 7 netball team took part in the Start of Season Tournament, the first of many, which was held here for all the local schools.  Our Year 7 hockey team also had their first experience of a tournament in Marlow, against other district schools.  Our Under 16s hockey squad competed in County Rounds and after a day of fantastic hockey are through to the Regional Rounds later on this term.  Our cross- country runners had their first event this year at Cottlesloe, the junior and senior teams won their races and the inters ran extremely well too.  Finally, we also compete tonight in the ESSA (English Schools Swimming Association) National Schools Division Rounds so good luck!

This week our Year 12s engaged in an Active Tutoring session.  This allows tutors to get to know their new forms, meet individually with students and set targets for the year ahead.

Non-Uniform Day
On Wednesday 18th October we are holding a "Wear it Red" Non-Uniform Day. Students are invited to wear something red on the day to support our chosen charity 'Show Racism The Red Card'.  A payment has been set up on Parentmail or alternatively students can bring £1 on the day and give to their Form Tutors during morning registration.

Sharing of our RSE Policy

Please find our RSE Policy here.  We share this with our parents and carers in the Years 7, 8 and 10 Parents' Evenings, but wanted to share also with the rest of our community. It is also on our website.

We will share more such documents over the coming year, for your information.

If you have any questions, please contact Hilary Osgerby, my PA, at secretary@ahs.bucks.sch.uk  who will direct your query as needed.

Our House

Please do purchase tickets for this event to support both AHS and AGS. For new Year 7 parents, it is a brilliant night out.  We appreciate that it is timetabled with Year 7 Parents' Evening on the 18th, but hope you will consider either the 19th or 20th as an alternative.

Wishing all well for a very lovely weekend and, as ever, with thanks for your support.
