#AHSWalksTall

Headmistress' Introduction

Dear Parents, Carers, Students, and Staff,

As we come to the end of another busy week and with the Christmas season now upon us, the excitement and energy around the School have been truly uplifting.

This week has been packed with opportunities and events that have showcased the hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm of our School community:

On Monday, we welcomed back our staff and students from Boppard, who had an incredible time exploring the beautiful town and immersing themselves in German culture. Their experiences will undoubtedly enrich their language learning and broaden their horizons.

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, our fantastic production of Legally Blonde, joint with AGS, wowed audiences with its stunning performances, dazzling choreography, and catchy tunes. Huge thanks to all staff, particularly Mrs Hughes, Mr Warner, Mrs Pennington and Miss Schembri, and students who gave so much to make this a success.

On Tuesday, our Year 11 students sat their mock MFL GCSE Orals, demonstrating their language skills and preparation for the upcoming exams.

On Wednesday, our Year 11 Textiles students tackled their mock GCSE, showcasing their creativity and technical abilities.

On Thursday, we hosted our Community Christmas Party for local residents. It was a heart warming event filled with festive cheer, music, and delicious treats. Thank you to all who made this possible.

Today, we kicked off our Fundraising Events with A Factor, a talent show showcasing the incredible talents of our students.  The event was a huge success, raising money for worthy causes.

We warmly invite everyone to join us for our Carol Evening next Tuesday, 17th December at 7pm at St Mary's Church. This is a wonderful opportunity for joyful, peaceful, and restorative reflection as the term draws to an end.

Students, please join us for a fun-filled pantomime on Monday and staff karaoke on Tuesday.  These events are a great way to unwind and celebrate the festive season together.

As a reminder, school finishes early on Wednesday, 18th December at 1pm.  Students will return to school on Tuesday, 7th January 2025 at 8:45am.

As I will not send a letter next week, may I take this opportunity to express again my sincere thanks to the staff, students, and families who make all  #AHSWalksTall enriching experiences possible.  It has been a wonderful term.

Y12 Sports Leaders

Our Year 12 Sports Leaders led their first festival of the year last Tuesday for around 80 primary pupils. It went extremely well and we wanted to share the following feedback with everyone

Many thanks for hosting our pupils today at the Have fun, Be active - both of these were achieved in our eyes.  The pupils came away happy, smiling, tired and in need of food!!

Your Year 12 Sports Leaders were fantastic; they explained the rules and activities really clearly and went over instructions when my children weren't sure.  They were also positive and encouraging.

Congratulations to all involved, we are very proud of you!
