Dear Alumnae
I hope this letter finds you all well.
AHS has had a busy half term, we have run one Open Evening and three Open Mornings, welcoming over 400 families through our doors. We have helped 58 students with early-entrance UCAS applications, to Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry and Oxbridge. Huge thanks to those #AHSAlumnae who have reached out with offers of Careers help to our students, this is incredibly kind and hugely appreciated.
We continue to work to facilitate and promote dynamic personal development, to #AHSWalksTall for all our students. To this end, we are focusing on the development of awareness of metacognition by our students. Metacognition - the process of understanding one's own learning and thinking - is a deliberate target of AHS in this fast changing time of AI and fake-news.
Christmas Events
We are now starting to 'gear-up' for Christmas, including Fundraising Week. I hope that some of you may remember this fantastic student-led celebration at the end of Autumn 2. This year, it will include the following:
Tuesday - The A Factor - Student talent contest
Wednesday - The Staff Panto
Thursday - Staff Karaoke
In addition we will be having the:
Christmas Concert - Tuesday 5 December 7.30 - 9.30 pm
Carol Service with AGS at St Mary's Church in Aylesbury - Thursday 14 December 7.00 - 9.00 pm - All are very welcome
If you would like to attend the Christmas Concert, please email my PA, Hilary Osgerby, at secretary@ahs.bucks.sch.uk. If you would like to attend the Carol Service, you are welcome to just turn up, no booking required. We do hope that some of you can make it.
Are you interested in joining the Alumnae Committee?
We are delighted in that we have had 7 volunteers to joining our Alumnae Steering Committee. We hope this will be the building block for an active and enthusiastic committee of ‘old girls’ who will help us run AHSAlumnae and create and maintain close contacts with the School. We plan to meet two or three times a year (with the AGM in September). However, most communication and activity will be conducted by email and phone.
If you would like to be involved and missed the previous call-out, we are still welcoming volunteers to bring new ideas and expertise to the mix.
We would love to hear from you if you would be interested in joining, please click here to give your details.
Join the Alumnae Community
If you would like to join the AHS Alumnae database, please email my PA, Hilary, at the above address. Please provide her with your name, address, preferred email address, mobile telephone number and the year that you left AHS. Please do forward this letter to other Alumnae who might not have yet joined us. Alumnae will receive an annual newsletter, monthly updates, and reunion invitations to events, fundraising and other School initiatives and developments.
Alumnae Annual Newsletter and monthly updates:
If you have something you would like to share about your time at AHS and/or life after our School, including updates to be included in the Alumnae newsletter, please contact us via my PA, Hilary, at at the above address. If you have met up with old school friends for a special anniversary reunion, or have news about yourself and/or other ‘old girls’, we’d be delighted to share it with the broader alumnae community. Readers particularly enjoy seeing old (and current) pictures and hearing about their lives and careers since leaving AHS.
Track down old friends:
Records are maintained by the School’s Development Office. Please contact the AHS Development Office via my PA, Hilary, at the above address to track down former AHS students. If they are in our database, the School will contact them and pass on your details.
Help with Careers Talks
Would you be prepared to talk to our students about your career and answer any questions that they may have? We are trying to build a database of alumnae who will kindly give up their time to talk to our students. If you would be willing to do this, please can you contact Hilary, at the email address above?
Once again, huge thanks to all our Alumnae whom we have managed to make contact with to date and a very big welcome to any new members.
With warmest wishes
