Kia ora Room 11 students and whānau,

Welcome to our class homework page. Homework in Room 11 is optional for students as I know juggling home, work and school is very challenging. The goal of homework in Room 11 is to consolidate learning that is happening in class and having fun. Some students may complete all activities every week or prefer to pick and chose from the available homework. Each student has been given a free homework book to do their activities in. If you have any questions or ideas for homework, please come and see me or send me an email on dani@ahipara.school.nz.

Reading

This term our reading focus is on developing an enjoyment for reading and discovering the types of books/texts we like to read. A good way to do this is to give all sorts of new genre a try so that we know what is out there. Therefore our reading homework will consist of a challenge board. You will receive $100 Banqer dollars for each completed book review for your efforts.

Instructions:

Choose one genre of text/book from the reading challenge board to read throughout the week.
The books you choose can be from class, the school library, home or the public library.
Complete a book review about the book using the template given to you in class. Be prepared to share this in class during our book recommendation discussion.
Colour in each genre as you complete it.

Spelling

This year we will be using The Code spelling programme to help us learn new key spelling patterns and sounds. This programme will help you with your reading and writing as well so make sure you give it your best efforts.

Instructions: Practise your group spelling words in your homework book using the activities on the bingo board below. You will earn $20 Banqer dollars for each activity you complete to a maximum of $100 Banqer dollars.

Maths

Number Families.pdf

Our basic facts focus for this term is on number families. This will help you to discover the relationships between numbers, addition and subtraction. It will also help you to learn key basic facts that will help you with our DMIC maths lessons in class. Miss Logan will give you a copy of each worksheet to glue into your homework every Monday.

Instructions: Complete two number family worksheets per week. For each number family you complete, you will earn $20 Banqer dollars. You can earn an extra $10 Banqer dollars for any extra number families you come up with yourself up to a maximum of $30 Banqer dollars.

Extension: Make your own number families using higher numbers. Record them in your homework book.
