Unit one establishes a foundation for the course and introduces the students to biological engineering’s role in addressing important global problems. In this course, students will specifically look at how biological engineering of organisms can be used to provide environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions to ensure food security for a growing world population; provide affordable, renewable energy; and provide clean, safe drinking water. This theme sets the stage for each unit within the course.
