Alkesh G. Shah is the Founder and Principal Engineer of AGS Consulting. Alkesh is a Structural Engineer with 25+ years of North American experience in a variety of areas in total building science. Prior to becoming Principal, Alkesh worked with increased levels of responsibility for various consulting firms in North America where he offered full design services related to buildings. At AGS Consulting, Alkesh looks after day-to-day operations, provides quality assurance, conducts field visits, manages his staff, and actively engages in client interactions.
Alkesh's main areas of practice include, but are not limited to, new ground-up building structures; additions, vertical expansions, structural alterations, and restorations of existing building structures; and evaluations and investigations of existing building structures, or parts thereof, triggered by the change in use and occupancy that demand higher loading.
Alkesh mentors his engineers in regards to the structural analysis, design, and detailing of: reinforced concrete; masonry; structural steel; cold-formed (light gage) metal framing; wood-framed structures; and non-bearing building façade (building envelop) systems.
By virtue of experience, Alkesh's career focus and interests have remained in dealing with a variety of building structures including residential (single-family dwellings to mid-rise multi-family apartments), commercial, mixed-use, retail, warehouse & distribution, offices, educational institutions, places of worship, healthcare, medical arts, hospitality, light industrial & manufacturing, parking structures, and automobile dealerships
Alkesh earned his Master's of Science in Civil Engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. Alkesh is licensed in the States of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington.
Alkesh is also an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI).
