Objectives for December:

Religion: Discuss the season of Advent, the use of the Advent wreath, and Christmas.

ELA (English and Language Arts): Introduce long vowel sounds with the CVCe pattern; identify ch, sh, th and wh digraphs; identify contractions; continue to capitalize proper names , titles, days, months, holidays and titles; identify verbs with singular and plural subjects; continue to add -ed and -ing endings; identify the author’s purpose for writing a story; identify the main idea and details in stories or paragraphs; distinguish between real and fantasy stories and begin to independently read and follow directions.

Math: Counting up to find the sum in addition and the difference in subtraction; identify fact family addition and subtraction sentences; review even and odd numbers; review <, > and = signs to compare numbers; and identify place value.
Handwriting: Practicing correct letter and number formation; printing neatly on the top, middle and base lines.
