Spelling Activities

Scrabble Words

1. Use Scrabble tiles to build your spelling words.  

2. Check out an example to the left!

Silly Sentences

1. Write a silly sentence for each of your spelling words.  

2. Underline the spelling word in each sentence.

• Example: The dog was driving a car. 

Spelling Story

1. Write a very short story using each of your spelling words. 

2. Underline the spelling words in the story.

RunonWord

1. Gather some crayons, colored pencils,  or markers.  Use a different color to write each of your spelling words.  Write the words end to end as one long word

   • Example: dogcatbirdfishturtle

2. Rewrite the words correctly and with proper spacing. 

Alphabetize

1. Write the spelling words in alphabetical order.  

Rhymes

1. Write your spelling words in a list.

2. Beside each word, write a rhyming word.

Word Scramble

1. Learning Coach, write each spelling word in scrambled order. 

2. Students, write the correctly spelled word beside the scrambled word. 

   • Example: rigndvi  driving

Word Search

1. Go to https://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/word-search

2. Follow the directions to create a word search with your spelling words.

3. Find your spelling words in the puzzle!
