The people of Benton County, Oregon, have a history of protecting and providing access to natural, historical and recreation areas, for the public good.
In early 2012 a group of citizens formed a friends group to support projects in parks and natural areas throughout Benton County and adjacent areas. The Alliance for Recreation and Natural Areas (AFRANA) emerged from this process in May 2012.
