TAK provides multiple methods for distributing data to a team. All with Pro's and Con's. If a user adds a marker they can send to every device on the system, but that item will remain indefinitly until the end user manually removes the marker that was sent. In addition, if a marker is pushed and a user turns on TAK later in the day, they will never see those previous markers that were pushed.
To address this issue, the best practice is to use the DataSync feature. When an end user is subscribed to a DataSync event, markers are added to the event and then those markers can be updated on all devices as they are changed within the DataSync event.
Data packages are another method of adding multiple markers, documents, pictures, etc that can be downloaded on demand from an end user. Similar to a .ZIP folder. Some packages are sent to an end user device upon registration with the server to include, plugin's, maps. custom map icons, etc. But this technique is not a best practice for map icons that may get adjusted or removed in the future.
