How to apply

  • Year 6 Applications must be made on-line. Applications in any other year group and Mid‑year transfers can by made by completing an application form.

  • A Secondary Information for Parents booklet is available for guidance. This can be requested from the Staffordshire School Admissions Team by telephoning 01785 278593. Alternatively the booklet can be found online at: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/admissions

  • When making your application please remember to provide any additional information that may be requested. This may particularly apply to foundation, trust and voluntary aided schools who may require evidence of baptism etc.

Admissions criteria

The following order of priority is used to allocate the available places

1. LAC/Previously LAC

2. Sibling

3. Catchment

4. Children who attend a feeder Primary School

5. Children of staff

6. Exceptional medical grounds

7. Other children outside of the priority area

Allocation of places

For Year 6/7

  • admissions all 3 preferences are assessed equally

  • If there are more applications than places then the over subscription criteria is applied

  • Decisions are made for each preference

  • If a place can be offered at more than one preference then the highest ranked school will be offered

  • The equal preference scheme means that you do not risk losing the offer of your 2nd or 3rd preference by not listing the school as your 1st preference

  • Include at least one preference you are likely to be offered

Other applications

  • If the year group is oversubscribed students will only be accepted if they meet any of the first 4 admissions criteria.

Offer of a school place

Year 6/7 admissions

  • A single offer of a school place is made

  • A period of 2 weeks will be provided to accept the offer

  • If you are not happy with the offer you have the right to appeal against the decision. The School Choice Advice Service may be able to provide you with further help regarding the appeals process

  • Appeals for September admission will take place during the Summer Term. We will publish the exact date here as soon as it becomes available.

  • If you are refused a place at your preferred school your child’s name will be placed on the waiting list

Other Applications

  • All applications received will be processed within one week of receipt

Waiting Lists

  • Names are placed on the waiting list in accordance with the admission criteria

  • A child’s position on the waiting list is not fixed

  • Waiting lists for all year groups are held until the end of the academic year

  • If you have lodged an appeal your name will still be placed on the waiting list
