Student Introduction:
Win the Vote was created in 2017 by Genesee 4th grade students. It focuses on Harriet Tubman as a suffragist, which is fitting, since 2017 was the 100 year anniversary of women getting the right to vote in New York State. A couple of the lines in the song are actual quotes by Harriet Tubman - one is “I reasoned this out in my mind.” Another, that you’ll hear repeated in the chorus is “I’ve suffered enough to believe it.”
