Single Point Rubric

The single-point rubric is a simple rubric that includes only the desired criteria for each category. This allows teachers to give more focused, targeted feedback to students and gives students the same opportunity when self-assessing. 

Peer Feedback

Austin's Butterfly Video

First-grade students offer kind, helpful, and specific feedback on a drawing.  This video can be viewed as a class to begin a discussion on appropriate feedback characteristics.

John Spencer offers a five-step protocol for peers to give feedback to one another with directions at each step for partner A and B. When the process is finished, the partners switch roles. The entire process takes 20 minutes.

This site offers a variety of tools and strategies for students to use when giving feedback to one another. 

Gallery walks are a great way for peers to rotate around the room and give feedback to one another. They benefit from having feedback at the end of the process that can drive their work forward. 

The Ladder of Feedback from Havard's Project Zero offers prompts for giving quality feedback. 

Ditch that textbook offers Google Slides and PowerPoint templates that you can copy and use with your students. 

Student Conferencing

In Catlin Tucker's blog, she outlines how to conduct assessments with students through conferencing. With this approach, you are able to connect with students and provide greater context around the grading process.
