Incoming Sixth Grade Mini Guide:

Your Adventure into Middle School

Preparing for the Journey Ahead

Welcome, sixth graders! Get ready for an unforgettable journey as you embark on your middle school adventure. To help you navigate through this exciting phase, we've put together a mini guide just for you.

Embrace the New

Middle school is a whole new galaxy, and it's okay to feel a bit nervous. Embrace the change and keep an open mind – you'll be amazed at the awesome experiences waiting for you!

Find Your Space Squad

New school, new friends! Be friendly and approachable. You'll discover your perfect space squad in no time. Be kind, be yourself, and watch your friendships bloom.

Organize Like a Pro

Keep your asteroid belt (aka backpack) tidy and organized. Use folders, color-coded binders, and a planner to keep track of assignments and important dates.

TIP 1: We will be using Google Suite (GMail, Google Drive, Slides, Docs, and Slides), so if you have an existing AEA account, it might be a good idea to put all of your work from elementary school into one folder.

TIP 2: Regularly check your GMail account and delete any emails you no longer need.

How to Organize Your Google Drive

Rule the Galaxy of Learning

Study hard, ask questions, and challenge yourself! Our teachers are here to help you soar academically, so don't hesitate to seek their guidance.

TIP: Need to communicate with your teacher? You can find their email address by visiting the Meet the Teachers page of this website. You can also communicate with your teachers by sending them a message through Canvas.

Navigate the Starry Skies

Familiarize yourself with the school layout and your class schedule. Know where your classes are and use a map if needed. Getting lost is just part of the adventure!

TIP: Reading your class schedule can be a little daunting. For more information on how to read your schedule, visit the School Schedule page of this website.

Time Management Warp Speed

Middle school brings more responsibilities. Manage your time wisely to balance schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and relaxation. Your future self will thank you!

TIP: Here at AEACMS, all students are given a handy-dandy planner. Bring your planner to school every day, and use it to keep track of important dates and assignments.

Get Involved in Constellations

Join clubs, sports, or after-school activities that interest you. It's the best way to make friends and explore your passions beyond the classroom.

TIP: To view the list of clubs at AEACMS, visit the Student Support Hub in Canvas. Have a question about a club? Contact the club's advisor or Mr. Vozzolo, the club coordinator, at mvozzolo@aeacs.org.

Be a Stellar Communicator

Don't hesitate to ask questions or share your thoughts with teachers and peers. Communication is the key to intergalactic success!

Mind Your Meteor Showers

Be respectful to others and treat everyone with kindness. Middle school is a time to grow together and support each other on this thrilling journey.
