Epic Day is held on Monday each week and possibly Wednesday each week (tbd)
EPIC Days core focus is History and Science. For the 2025-2026 school year we will be studying Utah History and Ancient History. We will also be studying about Earth, Life and Physical Science.
We offer small class sizes (15 students or less)

All subjects at Epic Day are taught with an emphasis in literature studies and art.
Science sections will include Sketching techniques and Science Sketchbooks.
Historical sections will include Mind Mapping and Literature studies.

Many popular curriculum choices are provided for parents to choose from. If parents would like additional, supplemental, or other curriculum not on the recommended list they may do so, provided it is not a religious curriculum.

Each student will be given 1000 points at the beginning of the year, with the opportunity to earn an additional 115 points for turning in weekly learning logs
Points can be used to select curriculum, participate in electives, purchase subscription boxes, school supplies, books, museum passes and other schooling needs.
Curriculum orders can be placed after July 15th. Please wait until August 15th to start ordering extra offerings.

This will be our fifth year doing the One Book One School program.
We will be reading three books this year:

Athenian eAcademy will provide these books to each family. We encourage families to read the books aloud and to discuss the book before the EPIC day.
One book One School EPIC days have activities involving the book and engaging the students in literature activities.

Parents are an important part of the Athenian eAcademy program.
Parents are responsible to teach students the core subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, and PE 4 times per week
Parents are responsible to ensure that their students attend EPIC day each week
Parents are responsible to report weekly what their student has been working on at home. (Language Arts/Math/PE)
Once a month, parents meet with the Education Specialist. Meetings take place in person, by phone, or online.

Uniforms are required for students at EPIC day and at any school offered field trips. You can find the information for uniforms here.
Students are provided with a free Athenian eAcademy t-shirt
Students can also wear polo shirts in gray, navy, white, and black
Students can wear levi's, khaki's,and black pants, shorts or skirts
Students that would like to borrow a chrome book to use throughout the school year can fill out the following form and bring it to an Education Specialist to check out a chrome book for use during the school year. Chrome books are returned at the end of the year.
This year all testing will be done during EPIC day.
Assessments will be given 3 times per year. In September/October, December/January and in April/May. The three assessments give parents a good view of how their child is progressing.
DIBELS (now called Acadence), is a reading and math assessment for students K-8. Tests are administered at Epic Day. This is a short test that students do one on one with the ES.
Students 4-8 will be using the RISE test as a diagnostic tool this year. In April students will have 2-3 days of RISE testing in person at Epic Day. Students who are choosing to participate in RISE testing can also take RISE progress assessments throughout the year.
My name is Julie. I am the Educational Specialist for Athenian eAcademy Ogden blended ed. I have been home educating my six children for over 18 years. I have four students who have successfully finished their schooling at home and have finished technical degrees, work full time jobs, and are striving to complete college educations. I have two little people still living at home and being educated at home.
I started teaching at Athenian eAcademy eight years ago because with four teenagers I never seemed to find a minute to get to history and science with my littles, besides that, I know myself, and I know that I always do things better if I do things in a group. So I signed my kids up and away we went. The next year I became the Educational Specialist for Layton, then for Ogden. I have enjoyed teaching students in the classroom my passion for dissecting, and my love of literature, and all things theater. I also enjoy helping parents to feel supported in the educational endeavors they have chosen for their children.
When I am not teaching I can be found producing, directing, or costuming a show for Shine Performing Arts, a homeschool theater group with over 100 homeschooling students. I also love to discuss human nature, politics, philosophy and education.
