May 2026 - "Te, asa na imong bangag sa yuta?" those words echoed as the medical student goes house to house monitoring solid waste management practices. Compared from the previous years, their practices were improved , as most no longer practice burying and burning. When asked why, a common answer heard was " Dili maayo ang magsunog ug basura".
Another strategy, which was recently introduced was the creation of compost pits, either through the use of sack or a pit/ trench. This was also included in our monitoring, though passable, but there is no harm in adding more interventions to further solidify and improve their practices. Thus, a lecture was conducted in which they were taught proper segregation of wastes, this was further put to practice by a game in which the community members demonstrated which trash belongs to a specific category.
Additionally, other programs such as creation of ecobricks, as well as posting signage in MRF's are still ongoing.
