Hypertension program in Barangay Balok continues to strengthen community-based efforts in promoting cardiovascular health through regular blood pressure screening, monitoring, and health education activities. The current focus of the program is to reduce the number of individuals with uncontrolled hypertension by improving early detection, follow-up monitoring, and awareness regarding proper blood pressure management.
On May 12, a community lecture session was conducted for residents aged 20 years old and above. The activity aimed to increase public knowledge regarding hypertension, including its causes, common signs and symptoms, complications, management, and preventive practices. Topics discussed emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper diet, regular physical activity, smoking cessation, stress management, medication adherence, and routine blood pressure monitoring.
The lecture also highlighted the silent nature of hypertension and the importance of early screening, especially among adults who may already be at risk without noticeable symptoms. Participants were encouraged to regularly monitor their blood pressure and seek early consultation for elevated readings.
A total of 79 individuals attended the health education session, demonstrating strong community participation and interest in improving their health. Blood pressure screening and monitoring activities were simultaneously conducted to identify individuals requiring closer follow-up and counseling.
Through continuous collaboration between healthcare workers, barangay officials, and community members, the program aims to promote healthier lifestyles, improve adherence to hypertension management, and ultimately decrease the prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension in Barangay Balok.
