July 25, 2026 - Sadly, all good things must come to an end. After four years of laughter, service, and partnership, Teambayayong concluded their journey in Barangay Balok through a Community Disengagement Program, a special day dedicated to strengthening bonds, expressing gratitude, and celebrating the community members who actively participated throughout the four-year community engagement.
Through the years, Teambayayong worked hand in hand with the residents of Barangay Balok to identify and address community’s health problems. These included hypertension, solid waste management, and access to potable water. Through health education activities, community-based interventions, consultations, and collaborative projects, the students and community members shared the responsibility of solving sustainable solutions to these health problems.
This disengagement program was not only a farewell. It was an opportunity for us to look back on the milestones we have achieved, a spotlight to recognize the efforts of the community, and appreciate the relationships built through years of cooperation. Community members who consistently supported and participated in the students’ activities were acknowledged for their valuable contributions to the success of the program.
Present during the special occasion were barangay officials and community partners, including Barangay Chairperson Manuel G. Bayawa, Vilma Gabuya, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Rex V. Samson, and community preceptors Dr. Elgie Gregorio and Dr. Mac Sta. Elena. Without their invaluable guidance and unwavering support, we would not have been able to accomplish the milestones and achievements we reached throughout our four-year journey.
More than the projects accomplished, the four-year journey taught us that solving health problems required trust, active participation, and a sense of shared responsibility. The people of Barangay Balok became more than just our "silingans", they became partners, teachers, and a core journey toward becoming future physicians. Although our four-year journey has concluded, the knowledge, relationships, and initiatives developed together will hopefully continue to inspire the community to sustain positive practices and work toward a healthier and happier Barangay Balok.
The program ended with heartfelt messages of appreciation and the hope that the partnership built over the years would leave a lasting impact, not only on the community, but also on the future doctors whose lives and perspectives were shaped by the people they had the privilege to serve.
