Punk re-emerged in the mianstream in the 1990's with bands such as Greenday, Rancid, The Offspring and Blink 182
Reaction against long, complex Hendrix style guitar solos that Punk artists felt were going no-where
Some artists also felt that Rock music wasnt rebellious enough
Non mianstream bands would play in pubs
Musicians didnt have developed skills but still wanted to express themselves musically
Punk lyrics led to Punk songs been banned by radio stations and refused shelf space in shops
