We Provide Storyline Events...
A Note from Bryce Larsen, Founder of Adventure Sound Live
After more than 20 years performing at private events - weddings, corporate parties, birthdays, BBQs, and everything in between - I’ve learned that the most memorable events aren’t just a series of moments. They tell a story.
At Adventure Sound Live, our philosophy is simple: great entertainment should highlight the stages and transitions of that story, without ever distracting from what matters most - the interaction between your guests.
When I put together entertainment for a private event, I usually bring a small team of two to four musicians I’ve personally trained in our storyline approach. This allows us to provide a wide range of musical ambiance, perfectly suited to each moment of the party—from the first arrival to the final dance.
We come prepared to read the room, respond in real time, and use our collective experience to guide your event through smooth transitions and create unforgettable moments.
It's not just about the songs we play, it's about how those songs connect people, elevate the energy, and help share an event you and your guests will talk about for years to come.
That's the power of a storyline event, and it's what we love to create.
...It comes down to the storyline.
When people hire a musician or a band, they usually get only one energy setting.
The vibe doesn’t work for the entire storyline of the party.
Some examples of how this can go wrong:
A jazz trio is great for the first 45 minutes while people come in, but they can’t kick it up to a dance party after the meal is finished.
A dance band is great for the end of the night, but can be too much for earlier in the party, when people want to talk and relax.
A soloist might be great during dinner, but not enough during cocktails or dancing.
This is why a lot of people give up and hire a DJ. Playing recorded music makes it easy to change the vibe as the party progresses. The problem is that a DJ alone can never match the energy and intimacy of live musicians. Although the party might have clear stages, it can still feel stale and unremarkable in the end.
At Adventure Sound Live, we’ve built our approach to solve this exact problem.
By blending live performance with dynamic pacing, real-time adaptability, and a deep understanding of the event flow, we create musical experiences that evolve naturally with your party—energizing every chapter and elevating every transition.
It’s not just live music. It’s live music that moves with you.
We provide three tiers of customizable options:
We design our setups to follow the natural flow of your event. Depending on your home or venue layout, we may move the music to different locations throughout the evening to match each phase of the party. For example, if there’s a bar area, we often begin and end the night there, since that’s where guests tend to gather. During dinner, we’ll position the music to enhance the atmosphere without overpowering conversation. And when it’s time to dance, we’ll make sure the setup creates space and energy for movement.
Our team uses portable, wireless equipment and is trained to shift and reconfigure quickly and discreetly. This keeps the momentum going without any awkward transitions or interruptions.
Most parties are a perfect fit for 3 or 4 musicians, but we can scale up to a 5-piece group if your event calls for more energy or variety. Our lineup options include:
Livelooping guitar/beatbox/singer (typically Bryce)
Piano
Soloist (usually violin, but sometimes trombone, saxophone, or electric guitar)
Percussion (hand drums like congas, not a full drum set)
Female vocalist
These musicians can be combined in any configuration. A duo might pair guitar or piano with any of the other instruments. A trio could include any three from the list above.
After getting to know your event goals during our planning calls, we’ll recommend the best combination based on the vibe you're going for and the availability of our artists.
Every party has its own rhythm. Here’s a glimpse into how we help guide that rhythm by combining flexible setups, live musicianship, and real-time decision-making.
Example 1: A 70th Birthday Celebration
Four musicians, continuous live music, multiple setups
Arrival: Piano and violin duo playing soft acoustic music on the grand piano in the foyer (15 minutes)
Cocktail Hour: Acoustic guitar, vocals, and percussion performing classic rock on the patio (75 minutes)
Dinner: Violin and piano inside, playing upbeat instrumental versions of familiar songs (40 minutes)
Dessert: Solo guitar set outside (20 minutes)
Dance Party: Full band playing soul, Motown, country, and classics on the side patio (45 minutes)
Break Set: Recorded electronic dance music for the younger crowd (15 minutes)
Final Dance Set: High-energy live hip hop, pop, and singalong favorites (45 minutes)
This event flowed beautifully because we had four musicians, which allowed us to rotate smaller ensembles for each moment while keeping live music going all night. We came in with a flexible plan and adjusted as we went, responding to the energy of the room in real time.
Example 2: A 40th Birthday Party (10 PM to 1 AM)
Three musicians, late-night energy, high flexibility
Welcome Set: Piano, vocals, and percussion performing modern dance songs reimagined (Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa) (15 minutes)
Singalong Cocktail Set: Solo guitar/vocalist playing 90s rock favorites (30 minutes)
Dance Set 1: Trio with guitar, piano, and dual vocals playing hip hop dance songs and singalongs (45 minutes)
Break Set: Recorded dance tracks curated by the host (15 minutes)
Dance Set 2: Trio back on with more dance favorites (15 minutes)
Listening Set: Piano and vocal duo performing R&B and soul in an intimate, concert-style moment (30 minutes)
Final Set: High-energy rock singalongs with the full trio (30 minutes)
In this case, the host had already thrown a full-day party. We started at a solid 7 out of 10 on the energy scale, leaving space to build. Throughout the night, we adjusted based on the crowd—knowing when to slow it down for conversation, when to spike the energy, and how to create unforgettable moments like arm-in-arm singalongs.
These are just a couple of examples, but they reflect our overall philosophy: with thoughtful planning and an experienced team, we can make smart, flexible choices on the fly that guide the night and create something truly memorable.
At the end of the day, our job is to do the mental work of guiding the party’s flow—so it feels effortless for you and your guests. You won’t need to worry about planning stages or picking genres. That’s what we’re here for.
