Program Eligibility
In order to participate in the IHSS Career Pathways Program, students must meet the following requirements:
Be an IHSS caregiver or Waiver Personal Care Services
Enrollment in CCA implies acceptance of certain standards of student conduct and a willingness to abide by these standards.
If a student does not meet these qualifications, the student will NOT be eligible to participate in this program. If at any point a student no longer meets program eligibility requirements, it is the responsibility of the student to notify CCA immediately.
Attendance:
Students must be present on time and stay for the entire course. We strongly suggest testing the Zoom link (located in the Workbook folder on Blackboard) at least 30 minutes prior to class to ensure there are no technical difficulties. Technical interruptions that cause a student to miss more than 10 minutes of class will count as an absence. Please communicate with the Learning Specialist regarding connectivity issues.
Lateness/Tardiness:
Students will not be admitted into the course once it has started. If a student runs into technical issues while on the Zoom platform, please notify the Learning Specialist immediately so that they can assist. Tardiness will result in being dropped from the class as this is disruptive to the learning experience.
Make-up courses:
Make-up courses are not provided. If a student cannot attend a course, they will be dropped. We suggest students to visit our course catalog for new courses as they will be offered every 8 weeks.
Participation:
It is important that students actively participate in classroom activities and discussions. For online courses, this includes keeping the video on and being visible to the instructor for the duration of class. Students must also use the Zoom chat and reaction features to demonstrate their participation. If a student has technical or personal reasons for temporarily turning off the video, please communicate with the Learning Specialist so that you are not marked absent. Failure to actively participate may result in being dropped from the course.
Confidentiality
Students will be drawing upon their care experiences in class discussions and it is important to keep their consumer’s personal health information is private. Please do not share any confidential information related to the consumer’s health. This includes sharing or details that make it easy to identify the consumer.

Post-Course Assignments
Students must complete two assignments once the course has concluded: a post-course survey and post-course quiz. Section I: Student Code of Conduct Overview
Enrollment in CCA implies acceptance of certain standards of student conduct and a willingness to abide by those standards. CCA standards of conduct are established to maintain conditions under which individuals, with respect for the rights and well-being of others, can participate effectively in a common educational activity.
CCA adopts the following Student Code of Conduct and prohibits all persons from engaging or participating in any of the practices or behaviors which violate this code. Specific examples are used by way of illustration and are not meant to limit the practices or behaviors that may be deemed to violate CCA’s standards of conduct.
Harassment and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated. Any student, group, or organization found to have committed misconduct is subject to disciplinary action and to sanctions including, but not limited to, those outlined in the code. Attempts to commit any of these acts of misconduct are included in the scope of these definitions.
The following are examples of CCA’s expectations and misconduct under the code subject to disciplinary action up to and including suspension and expulsion from all CCA activities permanently.
Section II: Student Code of Expectations and Prohibitions
The Student Code of Conduct describes the rules and expectations established by CCA for student conduct. The system for Disciplinary Procedures Action is to be used in cases of student noncompliance with the Student Code of Conduct. Code infractions/discipline imposed must be reported in writing with relevant documentation within 24 hours of the incident when possible. Reports of violations and discipline may be submitted to the Manager, Learning and Instruction (or designee). Information will be reviewed, and support will be provided by the appropriate CCA staff and personnel. Faculty, staff, and/or students may report any suspected code of conduct violations and those involved will be notified and all incidents documented accordingly.
Appropriate attire
Dress, grooming, personal cleanliness, and good hygiene standards contribute to the ambiance and character of CCA. Students are required to adhere to prevailing standards of good judgment in their choice of attire and are expected to conduct themselves in a way that best represents themselves and CCA.
Appropriate conduct
Students are expected to act responsibly and to conduct themselves in the classroom (whether virtual or in-person) in a manner that does not disrupt the learning process. A climate of mutual respect and courtesy should exist between faculty, staff and students. However, students must recognize that instructors and staff, by virtue of their positions, must exert a measure of authority in the classroom and other campus areas. Students should respect this authority. Disciplinary problems may result in a student being dropped from class and, in extreme cases, dismissed from CCA.
