A zany evening of hilarious Britishness
Brought to you by Twyla Lapointe Event Management
Thank you SO much to those of you who were able to participate in Task King! This site will be moving to a tab on the new tlem.ca website shortly, but you will still be able to find it there. I’ll update everyone with the Gallery link when the photographer, the new Admire Studios Associate, Rebecca Paine, has our photos ready for us. In the meantime, here’s a gem I managed to capture after the Flamingo Feud.
If you were not able to attend in person, or you’d like to invite a friend to see your hijinks, the show is now available to watch online!
If you did attend, please visit the Feedback Form before the end of the day on Tuesday, February 13th, 2023 to ensure that I can include your feedback in my Capstone presentation for NAIT.
I also wanted to invite you to consider a tip - the event budget was approximately $500 and 500 "human hours"! If you count all attendees online and offline equally, the cash budget would divide the cost to $10-15 per person. If you would like to help offset the event costs, please send an email money transfer to twyla@tlem.ca OR visit this page to use PayPal.
TASKMASTER is a long-running, award-winning British comedy game show developed by Alex Horne. Many episodes are available on YouTube, and here are just two examples:
Task King is a private, not-for-profit homage event developed by Twyla Lapointe for her NAIT Event Management Capstone project.
The Task King and Queen cordially invite you to their throne room - which you can access from anywhere in the world.
The online livestreaming event is open to everyone, everywhere.
Invite your friends, please!
Details on how to watch - and participate - are below:
Twitch.tv is the obvious solution to streaming some great entertainment. Not only is it free to use and watch, it's literally made for streaming great content. If you're not already using Twitch, please make an account by clicking on the link below and using the "Sign Up" link on the banner at the bottom of the page.
Please try to watch the streaming video on a large screen, such as a Laptop, TV, or tablet.
If possible, your personal device, such as a phone or tablet, can be used for audience participation!
Have snacks handy - you can enjoy munchies at home! I recommend popcorn!
Don't forget the mustard! Read on below.
If you are joining us online, please ensure that each person viewing the stream has access to mustard individually. We recommend buying enough mustard bottles for your family to consume in a couple of years, since they're only about a dollar at cheap grocery or dollar stores and never go bad... But you can also provide a bowl of mustard that everyone can access. Finally, you'll need a piece of standard-sized paper per person, black or coloured construction paper would be ideal. Also, take care - mustard stains are no joke!
Set up instructions:
Each person needs their own mustard squirter, or equal access to the mustard
Each person needs a standard piece of paper. Black paper is best, dark colours second best, and white will work in a pinch.
The task that includes the mustard will be in the second half of the program.
The Task King and Queen cordially invite you to their court!
The physical, in person event was an exclusive, invite-only bash for ~20 people.

As a lifelong library-lover, I am beyond excited to be hosting the in-person event at the Capilano Public Library's Program Room. Plus, the building even looks like a crown - it was made for royalty. The Library has graciously allowed us to livestream the event on their premises.
If you will be attending in person, please look for the blue wall at the back of the library that says "Program Room."
Please note: "Statements being made or positions being taken during events do not necessarily reflect the opinions or values of EPL."
You must be willing to be featured on a public livestream and in event photos and video.
Ensure your personal electronic device (phone or tablet) is fully charged for the event
Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in. Avoid high heels, low necklines, etc.
Always call the King and Queen "Your Majesty."
You may have attended Twyla’s Carnival Birthday Party, or perhaps the 1980s Alaskan Cruise Murder Mystery, or the pandemic-era online streamed Miracle Berry Taste Test. But it’s time for Twyla to outdo them all. The time has come to break the spell of the last few years - and host one of the most ambitious parties Twyla has ever created before. Not only is this party to celebrate the end of her Event Management certification at NAIT… the development and hosting of this event actually is her thesis project - known as a Capstone. She literally had to do it. She also figuratively HAD to do it, because it’s going to be an unforgettable experience of ridiculous British-style comedy.
PSSST. Want to hear a secret? Here's the really crazy part, folks. This is the party she’s hosting to prepare for the really, really insane party she’s been planning for almost 3 years. No, really.
