Managing Trustee Shri. K Anand ASIET, signing the Letter of Establishment on 11th January 2025
The Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering & Technology remains unwavering in its commitment to advancing lifelong learning through structured and collaborative engagement. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence for Lifelong Learning marks a pivotal step in fostering interdisciplinary exchange, pioneering research initiatives, and shaping policy frameworks in accordance with the principles of the ASEM Lifelong Learning. This Centre stands as a testament to our dedication to cultivating inclusive and sustainable learning environments that transcend conventional educational boundaries.
As the Centre progresses through its formative stages, it actively hosts scholarly discourse, facilitates collaborative projects, and refines strategic approaches to drive the development of lifelong learning ecosystems. Looking ahead, the upcoming international conference—organized in partnership with esteemed institutions—presents a crucial opportunity to critically examine the intersections of policy, ethics, and practice in shaping sustainable educational paradigms. Through these concerted efforts, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering transformative learning experiences that empower individuals across disciplines and socio-economic contexts.

Managing Trustee
Announcement of the Centre on 8th of January 2025 at ASIET, India.
The Centre houses the ASEM Lifelong Learning Hub Regional Centre for South Asia and works according to its guidelines along the four areas:
Courses, Internships and Exchange
Collaborative Projects
Policy, Briefs, Reports & Advocacy
Additional Events including conferences, seminars, field visits and the like.
Currently, the Centre is at the developmental stage. It is already working on several collaborative projects, has hosted and co-hosted various events, and is looking forward to organise its first annual conference in collaboration with NIT Calicut, ASEM LLL Hub Regional Centre for South Asia, and PASCAL International Observatory.
The International Conference Towards Lifelong Learning Ecosystems for a Sustainable Future is aimed at discussing the various aspects of the transition from traditional education and knowledge systems towards creating such Lifelong Learning Ecosystems. The discussions will focus around various concepts and theories, policies and programs, professional values and ethics, and real-life practices - extending across age groups, socio-economic backgrounds, disciplines, settings (formal, non-formal and informal) and so on in a sustainable manner.
The Conference offers an opportunity for various stakeholders to come together, critically analyse and discuss the challenges, prerequisites, pathways, and objectives of the Lifelong Learning Ecosystems that are already emerging and the way they should ideally look like. Even though it is difficult to imagine concrete structures and functions right now, there are possibilities to shape them constructively if stakeholders engage actively today. The Conference therefore tables an opportunity for serious discussions over the most advanced research themes in learning and provides unique opportunities for publications, collaborations over projects and initiatives, and formal and informal networking with stakeholders from all over the world. Further, it provides room for shaping policy and advocacy to achieve fair, equitable and sustainable learning opportunities in future.
This Conference is designed a bit differently from other Conferences as it offers opportunities beyond the traditional paper presentations, symposia, scientific discussions and formal networking opportunities. Apart from the traditional research-oriented activities, the Conference offers dedicated sessions for collaborations over projects, possibilities for advocacy, informal networking through recreational and fun sessions, and opportunities before and after the Conference in case you plan to arrive early or stay over for a longer period of time in South Asia. If you would like to engage in visiting research possibilities, teaching and learning, or other activities for a longer period of time and have some specific queries, you are most welcome to contact us through email.
The leadership of the Centre comprises of three people. The Chairperson overlooks the Centre and is the link between the ASIET Management & the Centre team, while the Director oversees collaboration, planning and management. The Deputy Director oversees the scientific work and research. The Centre has a rich pool of resource persons including several visiting faculty and researchers from various parts of the globe, engaged in developmental work and may offer teaching, research, internship and other opportunities.
