Becoming a member of AdFac is the single most effective path to advocating for your profession and the students you serve. By doing so you are joining a union of education professionals that you can rely on when you’re having trouble in the workplace and to negotiate good contacts backed up by strong union representation. Dues are 1.9% and only collected while you’re working. Whether you are a part-time counselor, librarian or instructor you deserve strong union representation.
Our Committee On Political Education is responsible for the union’s public affairs and can’t be funded with union dues.
It’s important that our union has a voice in elections that directly affect adjuncts, students and our district. The North Orange County Community College District is governed by a publicly elected board of trustees. They have the power to approve our collective bargaining agreement, create campus policies and decide how resources will be allocated in the district.
We must increase our COPE fund to ensure we have the resources necessary to help elect trustees who will support adjuncts once in office. Our COPE committee is also responsible for influencing statewide races and legislation that directly relates to our working conditions.
