A championship legacy
Now in its 6th year, the HLP Speech and debate program give students the opportunity to grow and learn, and to give them skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
In 2025, the district wide program returned from the National Middle School Tournament with 5 National Finalists, 1 Poetry National Champion, our 2nd School of Excellence award and the most students advancing to elimination round competition in its history.
From the High School National Tournament, HLP walked away with our first ever 2-time National Finalist In Original Spoken Word Poetry and Poetry.

A place for everyone
The program is open to students in grades 5 through 12.
The Hacienda La Puente Speech and debate program offers a variety of events and activities for everyone.
Students learn fundamentals of public speaking and how to build confidence. Students explore a variety of different speeches to expand and build their creativity.
