Girls Golf Season FAQs

When is the season? The girls golf season runs from the end of February through May.

Where does the team practice? The team generally practices at Thorncreek G.C. and Riverdale G.C. Practices are generally held from 4-6pm throughout the season on Mondays through Thursdays. We have optional short course work at Hyland Hills Par 3 courses as weather allows on Fridays throughout the season.

It is the responsibility of the player/parent to get their golfer to practices as no district transportation is offered to take students to practice.

What levels of skill are required?

Novice players generally play 9 hole courses to get their first competitive golfing experiences.

More experienced players need to demonstrate playing ability to compete in 18 hole Invitationals and League Matches.

How much school might my student miss?

Novice players generally play early afternoons and may miss part of their 7th and 8th hours.

More experienced players generally miss the entire school day on the days that they compete.

Any player missing school to compete in an event is excused from classes by the golf program.

Program Fees: Anticipate $250 in fees

District Athletic Fee and Paperwork: Generally the fee is $150 to sign up for a school sponsored sport. In addition, proof of a recent physical and other athletic paperwork is due prior to participation.

Uniform Fee: Generally the uniform fee is $100 and includes a team jacket and 2 polo shirts for competitions.

What equipment does my student need?

Novice players should strive to have their own golfing equipment, but the program does have some "starter sets" for loan to players that are trying to determine if they would like to pursue golf.

Beyond clubs and a golf bag, players should have a pair of good tennis shoes (golf shoes not required but recommended, good wind and preferably moisture proof "layer" pants, a stocking cap, gloves and a variety of layers to wear as we have significant temperature changes during practices and events.

Off-Season Practice: We have partnered with TopGolf to allow players access to their facility as team on Wednesday's throughout the Winter. Please contact coach Norfolk directly about dates and times for these practices. thomas.norfolk@adams12.org
