About

Why is biology important? Biology is the study of all living organisms and the physical factors that affect them. It is essential to understand how organisms carry out their life processes, interact with one another, and interact with their physical environment. By understanding these concepts you can look at the natural world around you, and know the who, what, where, and most importantly why and how. The cornerstone of any science course is having a uniform approach to solving problems. Using the scientific method we will improve our problem solving skills by doing inquiry based labs. In order to encourage the greatest amount of student achievement we will have a variety of activities meant to address all learning styles and needs. To reinforce and supplement learning that occurs in the classroom we will have homework on a regular basis. We will have projects of varying lengths so you may become more knowledgeable in a particular area. Finally, we will look at the issues that are of particular importance and relevance to us and communicate our opinions in written and oral form. CP Biology is a college prep course and will entail outside research, inquiry labs, team work and the ability to problem solve. My goal as you exit this course is to give you biology content, lab skills and problem solving practice to prepare for your next college prep or advanced placement level science course.
