About me

I am a biologist who is fascinated and constantly surprised by the amazing planet we live on! I aim to show students the ways that we are a part of the ecosystems we inhabit and help them build the science skills necessary to be informed and capable citizens of the world. I have a B.S. in Biology from Northern Arizona University and a Master's in Zoo, Aquarium, and Animal Shelter Management from CSU. This is my fifth year as a teacher and second year at Legacy.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked in multiple insect collections studying biodiversity and identification, with USGS surveying bat populations, and assisting in organizing an international conference on mycorhizzae (a cool fungal-plant relationship!). I think science is at its best when we get a little messy and get to wear cool gear (like insect aspirators and fanny packs full of jars).

I love to travel, read, go hiking and camping, see musicals, and hang out with my husband and kitties. Please reach out to me any time with questions, concerns, or even cool things you've found out about our dynamic planet!
