Dear Mountain View Families,
We're already four weeks into the school year and we're off to a strong start! In addition to our core reading, writing, math, science and social studies curricula, we're learning lots of new life skills this year. Through the Second Step program, students are learning human skills such as responsible decision-making, working together to solve problems, managing strong emotions, and getting along with others. These skills can help children succeed academically and socially. With Let Grow, our students are learning to be competent, confident, and independent as they try new things. And, we're taking our school-wide expectations up to the next level this year with our new Rocks: be kind, be engaged, be an upstander, show perseverance, and take ownership. The choice is yours!
Mountain View really does ROCK!
With gratitude,
Peggy Heath
Mountain View Principal

Author and Illustrator Jessie Campagna visited our school on Thursday, September 4th! She shared an interactive author read-aloud, then discussed the process of writing and illustrating her first book, Marker and Lid.
This book is about each of us having our own important gifts to share with the world! We are not the same, and that’s what makes us special. Just like every marker needs a lid, we need each other.
All Five Star students’ scores have been uploaded to the campus portal. Follow these instructions to to view the results. Please note that on some computers, the reports may appear blank when you open them. If this happens, please print or download the report to see your child’s score.
Shortchanged: Our Students Deserve Better
When compared to nearby school districts, Adams 12 Five Star Schools ranks 14th out of 15 nearby school districts in per student mill levy override (MLO) dollars. That means we have less money than others for ongoing teacher salaries and academic programming.
We have a solution. If voters pass an MLO in November, the district would secure much-needed funding to invest in safety, world-class staff and academic programming. Learn more.
Mountain View is proud to be a Let Grow school!
The Let Grow Experience is a simple, life-changing homework assignment: “Go home and do something new, on your own. Climb a tree, run an errand, make a meal… ” The real-life activity choices are endless and the impact: immediate.
