This volunteer opportunity is a commitment and you will need to volunteer at the shelter multiple times a month for the first few months you get started, then you can talk with the volunteer coordinator about adjusting your required hours. I've personally (Claire S) been volunteering at Riverdale Animal Shelter for two years now and it makes getting my NHS hours a lot easier because you can volunteer whenever you're free and it's fun. There are a lot of different volunteer positions such as feeding the dogs, cleaning bowls, laundry, walking dogs, and playing with puppies.
Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years old and have permission from your legal guardian to volunteer.
you will need to pass a free background check before you begin.
Next Steps:
If you would like to continue, please fill out and submit an application.
You will be contacted via email within 7 business days regarding the status of your application.
If our program seems like a good fit and you’re ready to have a big impact on the success of our shelter, apply here.
Please contact the Volunteer Department with any questions. Thank you!
If you are healthy, please volunteer! We have no plans to cease food distribution at this time and people facing hunger are counting on us. Food Bank of the Rockies has already experienced volunteer cancellations. We need healthy individuals and groups to continue helping us provide food to those facing hunger in our community. The Food Bank does Mobile Food Pantries three times a month in Thornton and Federal Heights.

Send a personal greeting right to a child in our hospital at the Anschutz Medical Campus using our free cheer cards! Choose your favorite card below and personalize your message. Then, our volunteers will print the card and hand-deliver it to a patient’s room.
We'll do our very best to ensure that the patient receives your cheer card. Please note:
Cheer card deliveries take place Monday through Friday.
Cards submitted after noon on Friday will be delivered the following Monday.
We are unable to forward cheer cards submitted after a patient's discharge.
If you don’t know anyone in our hospital right now, but want to brighten a child’s day, simply write “A Special Patient” in the patient name field. Our volunteers will deliver your card to one of the kids in our hospital.
Set a timer for 1 hr and complete as many cards as you can in that hour.
