For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, commonly known as FIRST, is an international organization founded by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers in 1989.
We aim to equip a community of students passionate about science and technology with the skills and initiative to become the next generation of leaders and create positive change in their respective career fields.
Legacy High School is home to the team Lightning Robotics, FRC #5763, which is sponsored and managed by Mr. Dietel. The group strives to learn, create, and advance everyday knowledge on the vast complexity of robotics. Every year, the Lightning Robotics team participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition, revealed in January, in which the members design and build a custom robot for the specific competition. The team is quite diverse with a variety of jobs required including:
Programmer
Mechanic
Electrician
Computer Aided Designer
But, there are many other jobs needed as well, like:
Logistics
Fabrication
Marketing
Overall support,
and much much more!
Anyone whose choses to join will be a valued addition to Lightning Robotics.
Club meetings are held most Thursdays after school up to 6 pm in room B104.
To join Lightning Robotics, simply show up to room B104, and meet the following requirements:
Be a student currently enrolled at Legacy High School
Agree to the FIRST Code of Conduct
Agree to the Team Contract
The Lightning Robotics team sponsor, mentors, and elected leaders are all available via email.
