Coaches

Legacy Boys' Wrestling is very fortunate to have a wealth of wrestling and coaching experience on its coaching staff.

• Head Coach Mike Thompson has been at the helm of LHS Boys' Wrestling team since the school opened in 2000. Thompson wrestled at University of Southern Colorado (now CSU Pueblo) and had a distinguished career.

• Coach Funk was a two-time Ohio State Champion, member of the Freestyle US Junior World Team (1987), four-time All-American for Northwestern University, and a Big Ten Champ (1991).

• Coach Lopez, a former Legacy wrestler, multiple state placer who went on to become a two-time All-American for Western Colorado University, has been coaching at Legacy since 2009.

• Coach Joiner wrestled at Mesa State College and then went onto become a youth wrestling coach for over 20 years as well as a high school wrestling coach for 12 years.

• Coach Wilson has been coaching wrestling since his move to Colorado in 1993. He spent several years as the head coach at another Adams 12 school before joining the staff at Legacy in 2011.

• Coach Hoffman is a long-time Legacy Wrestling supporter and Legacy High School CSO who has been involved with the Legacy Wrestling program since 2007. Hoffman has been director of fundraising since 2015 and assistant coach for the past two seasons. When not mat side, you can find him fly fishing stream side.
