Job Shadow (Junior Year)
Job Shadow (Junior Year)
For my L2k Junior year job shadow project, I chose to work with Euclid Machine and Design LLC. Euclid is a small team CNC machining shop that provides services regarding design, prototyping, and machining of various components. Euclid M&D primarily works with aluminum and steel; however, they have utilized various plastics for certain projects.

During their time working on the PSPE/SHPE Rube Goldberg team, the video above is the chain reaction machine that they helped to design, prototype, and assemble.
Alex and David were both members of the PSPE/SHPE Rube Goldberg team (typically shortened to PSPE Rube Goldberg); Alex from 2009-2013 and David from 2012-2013. It is through PSPE Rube Goldberg that they meet and started to explore machining through work in the ME Machine Shop.
Both Alex and David are both graduates from Purdue University. The two of them each pursued their higher education in the field of mechanical engineering.
During my experience at my job shadow, I was able to study and learn in addition to doing a lot of hands-on work with tasks including, CAD, loading program files, loading and unloading parts from the machines, machine operations, cutting stock, washing parts, inspection of parts, and other production tasks. Fortunately, I was granted the opportunity to participate in nearly every operation within the shop which greatly helped me understand more about what CNC machining really meant. Following the completion of my job shadow, I was offered a position, and have since become a part of the Euclid Machine and Design team.
