Hello Kindergarten and First Grade GT Students!

We hope you are doing well and we miss you. On this page you will find a list of great learning activities based on topics we were working on in our monthly meetings.

Creative Engineering

  • This great video shows of engineers solve problems and create amazing things that people use every day.

  • DaVinci was both a famous artist and a famous engineer. He painted many pieces during his life time, but as created amazing pieces of engineering. Can you try one of his ideas by using pencils and rubber bands to create a bridge that can hold a whole box of rocks? Click to see how to start this awesome project.

  • Make a Cardboard Automata: A working machine with gears, levers, pulleys or other motion makers.

Science Experiments

  • Have you ever had a Styrofoam cup and wondered why it is so light. Well that might be because there is a lot of air in it. Watch the video above to see what happens when all the air in a Styrofoam cup is removed.

  • I am always excited when art and science work together. Here is a wonderful way to use magnets to help you paint a masterpiece.

  • Can you make the same orange both sink AND float? After trying it out on your own, click here to get some tips and an explanation.

  • Have you ever felt like something was to hard to try and do? There are times when we tell ourselves, "Why try something if I will never be good at it?" Here is a great video showing us why it is always important to try something even if it might be hard, or we are not good at it right away.
