¡Hola! I am very excited to be working here are Westlake Middle in the World Languages Department as a Level I Spanish teacher. This is my 17th year teaching!! I look forward to teaching these estudiantes a hablar y escribir muy bien en español.
I learned Spanish as a second language, so I know how frustrating it can sometimes be to learn a new language. But we can work together to develop strategies that will work for your student. There have been many, many rewards for me, in learning a second language. I feel it is important to give our students as much of an advantage as we can for their futures!
I took 8 years of Spanish in school, and then lived in Madrid, Spain for a year in college. I traveled a lot during that year and fell in love with the Spanish culture, food, the language and the people. Recently I have also traveled to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina, back to Spain and Peru. I have traveled all over Europe and now look forward to traveling more in Central America and the Caribbean. Each country has its own unique cultures to share.
I also have my Masters in Linguistically Diverse Education, and apply these language learning strategies and techniques in my Spanish classroom.
In my spare time I like to be outdoors-> fly-fishing, hiking, camping, skiing, gardening, and surfing. I do these things with my husband and three sons.
I have three boys, Theo, Alex, and Erick. They love to be outdoors, camping and fishing!
