DICCIONARIO

Wordreference.com is the only online dictionary that I recommend. It can only translate a word or two at a time rather than a full sentence, and it provides the different parts of speech or uses for the word. If you cannot find a direct translation for a word, there are also message boards to filter through to discover how the Spanish-speaking community would translate it.

Tips for translating:

Pay attention to the part of speech:
- "can" - noun (aluminum can) - "lata"
- "can" - verb (I can ski) - "poder"
If you need to use a verb, use your own skills to conjugate it. Think about the tense and subject you need to use.
Remember word order. English cannot be directly translated to Spanish, and vice versa. You have to remember details like that an adjective comes after the noun in Spanish ("the red book" vs. "the book red").
Trust yourself more than anything. You have a strong foundation of Spanish skills! Do not learn to rely on a translator - anyone can pull up a translator on their phone, but you have chosen to the learn this language for a reason.
