Academic Supports
Counselors put in a lot of work to help students with their academics -- from scheduling, to course planning, to developing skills to do well in classes and on tests. High school is one of the most challenging times for students -- including academically! As counselors, we hope to provide students with guidance and resources to support their learning and success at Legacy High School. Below is a collection of resources students may consider.
Academic Support Period
Every Wednesday before classes begin (7:40 to 8:30 AM), teachers are available for homework help, exam make-ups, and classroom content review. A list of their assigned rooms (along with their teacher office locations) can be found here.
FLEX Lab
Hosted at neighboring district schools, FLEX Lab provides students the opportunity to work with other district teachers to receive specialized support outside of school hours. Please reach out to your counselor for more information and a referral.
Lightning Math Club
Sponsored by student leaders, Math Club meets most Wednesdays after school in Mobiles 4 from 3:15 to 4:30 PM. Students can drop in to receive additional assistance from some of our strongest math students in the building.
NHS Tutors
Each year, National Honor Society provides student tutors to work toward their community service hours. These students have already passed and demonstrated a high degree of success with these course-specific tutoring lessons. Students should reach out to their counselor if interested.
Community Tutors
There are an enormous number of companies and individuals that provide tutoring services in the Broomfield community. We cannot speak to the efficacy of any of these resources and hope that families share their experiences with us so we can guide our students to the best and most affordable options available.
Provides in home and online tutoring services in the following locations including Broomfield, Thornton, Lafayette, Louisville, Leyner, and Superior.
A local institution that provides in-person and online tutoring for a variety of subjects and test preparation.
Tutors specializing in a wide range of subjects (Math, Science, Language Arts, Spanish, SAT/ACT Prep, or Academic Coaching) and are equipped to provide personalized support to students at all skill levels.
Ran by a former Legacy teacher, Tutoring Club creates a customized game plan for each and every student. They provide year round services for all high school subjects, SAT/ACT test prep, and more, as well as guidance in navigating the college applications process.
Although there are many resources available online for students, KhanAcademy is perhaps the most comprehensive and expansive. In addition, this resource is FREE. From SAT prep to walkthroughs of AP courses, there is something for many students to take with them to the classroom. Counselors encourage students to use resources like this as a supplement to their learning.
This online resource provides study guides, content lessons, and practice tests for the ASVAB exam at zero-cost.
College Board offers many tools to help you best prepare for AP exams during the month of May.
ZAPS (SAT)
Legacy has a longstanding partnership with Doorway to College to provide students with high quality SAT preparation. This event occurs over two days after school - once in the fall and again in the spring. The fall dates will be October 4th and 5th from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm here at Legacy. The cost is $110 for the seminar. If you register early, the cost is $99. Register at www.doorwaytocollege.org or call 1-877-927-8378.
