My name is Abbey Palte (pronounced Paul-Tee), and I am so excited to be teaching second grade at STEM Lab! We already have so many fun and engaging activities planned, and I can’t wait to spend this school year learning and growing with all of you. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching students grow—not just academically, but as individuals—and seeing our classroom evolve into a close-knit community.
I’m a Colorado native, born and raised in Denver. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and my Master’s in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. I met my husband while student teaching in Fort Collins, and this year marks my fifteenth year in education. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Learning Specialist and teaching both third and fourth grade.
After seven wonderful years in the classroom, I took some time off to stay home with our three daughters. When our youngest started kindergarten, I returned to teaching. Our twin daughters are now starting high school, and our youngest will be heading into seventh grade—time flies!
Outside of school, our family loves spending time outdoors. We enjoy camping, hiking, and paddleboarding in the summer, and in the winter, we love skiing and snowshoeing. We also cherish quiet nights at home watching movies and reading together.
Our classroom has a special member you’ll get to know—my leopard gecko, Rango! He stays with me during the school year and makes a great class pet. I think he enjoys all the attention!
I feel so grateful to be your teacher this year. I’m looking forward to all the learning, laughter, and memories we’ll share. It’s going to be a fantastic year!
