About Us

Adair County High School STLP gives students opportunities to use technology, creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills to make a positive impact in our school and community. Students work individually and in teams to develop projects based on their interests while gaining real-world experience.

STLP activities and projects include:

STLP Regional and State Competition Projects – Students develop original technology-based projects to present at STLP competitions.
Video Production and Public Service Announcements – Students create videos that educate, inform, and bring awareness to important school and community topics.
Podcasting – Students plan, record, edit, and produce podcast episodes focused on topics that are important to teenagers and the community.
Stop-Motion Animation and Digital Storytelling – Students use creative media techniques to communicate messages and tell meaningful stories.
TribeTV and School Media – STLP members have opportunities to assist with school announcements, video production, photography, graphic design, and other digital media projects.
Community Service Through Technology – Students use their technology and media skills to support school and community organizations.
Elementary School Technology Outreach – STLP students visit elementary schools throughout the year to work with younger students, teach technology skills, and help them develop their own STLP projects.
Digital Citizenship and Technology Leadership – Students learn how to use technology safely, responsibly, creatively, and professionally.
Photography and Graphic Design – Students create digital graphics, promotional materials, photographs, and visual content for school and STLP projects.
Career Exploration – Students explore careers in technology, media arts, broadcasting, graphic design, video production, communications, and other technology-related fields.
Leadership Development – Students have opportunities to serve as STLP officers, lead project teams, mentor younger students, and represent Adair County High School at events and competitions.
School Improvement Projects – Students identify needs within the school and explore ways technology can be used to develop practical solutions.

Our Vision for STLP

Our vision for Adair County High School STLP is to continue building a student-led program where students are encouraged to create, lead, serve, and solve problems through technology.

During the next school year, we want to expand STLP beyond competition projects and provide students with opportunities to use their skills throughout the entire year. Students will be encouraged to identify real problems within our school or community and develop technology-based solutions that can make a difference.

A major part of our vision is increasing collaboration between our high school students and younger students throughout Adair County. STLP members will continue visiting elementary schools to mentor students, introduce them to new technology, and help them brainstorm, develop, and improve their own STLP projects. This allows our high school students to become technology leaders and role models while helping build excitement for STLP throughout the district.

We also want to increase opportunities for students to work with video production, podcasting, photography, graphic design, digital storytelling, broadcasting, and emerging technologies. Through these experiences, students can discover new interests while developing communication, teamwork, creativity, leadership, and career-ready skills.

As our program grows, we hope to increase student membership, develop additional competition projects, build partnerships with community organizations and local businesses, and give more students the opportunity to showcase their talents at regional and state STLP events.

Ultimately, we want ACHS STLP to be a place where students do more than simply use technology. We want them to become technology leaders who use their skills, creativity, and ideas to improve their school, support their community, and prepare for their future.

Robert Shaffer served as the Treasurer for STLP at Adair County High School for the School Year 2025-2026. This is his first year being involved in STLP, and he has quickly shown dedication, respect, and motivation in his role as a student leader.

Robert’s favorite part of STLP is the people, as he values the connections and relationships built through the program. He believes STLP is more than just a club—it’s an opportunity to grow and become a better person.

As Treasurer, Robert strives to stay prepared and face challenges with confidence. He wants others to see him as someone who is dependable and ready to take on responsibility.

A quote that represents Robert is: “God’s still working on me, and I trust the process.”

Elijah Bennett

Elijah Bennett is a first-year member of the STLP program at Adair County High School who has already made a strong impression through his leadership and positive attitude. Even in his first year, Elijah has embraced the opportunities STLP provides and continues to grow both personally and socially.

Elijah’s favorite part of STLP is creating projects and connecting with others. He enjoys the collaborative environment and the chance to share ideas, which has helped him become more confident in his communication skills.

He chose to become an STLP officer because he wants to be a positive role model for his peers. Elijah is committed to leading by example and encouraging others to get involved, take risks, and push themselves beyond their comfort zones.

Elijah wants others to know that STLP is not only fun and engaging, but also a place that helps students become more comfortable speaking in front of others and building confidence.

As an officer, he hopes to be seen as someone others can look up to—a dependable leader who sets a good example. He lives by the quote, “We can’t become what we need to be by remaining what we are,” reflecting his belief in growth, change, and always striving to become better.

Mrs. Kelly Grant

2025-2026 STLP Sponsor

Kelly Grant serves as the STLP Advisor at Adair County High School. Although this is her first year in the role, she remembers the impact of STLP from her own time as a student and is passionate about creating those same meaningful experiences for her students today.

Mrs. Grant is dedicated to helping students explore technology in authentic and engaging ways, often without them even realizing how much they are learning about real-world industries. Her favorite part of STLP is watching students discover new passions—especially when they step outside their comfort zones and experience genuine excitement and pride.

Under her leadership, the STLP program at Adair County High School has experienced tremendous growth, expanding from just 8 students to approximately 25 members. This year, all four student projects submitted to the regional competition were selected to advance to the state level—an outstanding accomplishment that reflects the hard work and dedication of her students.

Mrs. Grant strives to create a supportive, creative, and goal-oriented environment where students can succeed while maintaining a healthy balance. She hopes her students always know that she cares deeply about them and is their number one supporter.

She believes STLP plays a vital role in connecting classroom learning to real-world application, especially within the Media Arts program, and hopes every student who enters her classroom finds a place to grow through STLP.
