Week 14(6/1): SAT Registration & Advice From Seniors

As we announced last week, CUNY will be test blind, meaning they will not accept any SAT scores even if you want to send them. Many other colleges have test optional policies, meaning they will accept your SAT scores if you choose to send them, but it isn't required. In case you would like to test in the fall, below is a video that walks you through registering for the SAT. We will not require you to take the SAT, but it might be a good idea if you have a top school who is test optional(remember you don't need to send the scores to test optional schools, but if you do and you are within the score they are looking for, it could be beneficial). If you aren't sure if you want to test, you can always sign up for a College Office Appointment and we can discuss your options.

If you do plan on taking the SAT in the fall, we STRONGLY encourage you to register before the end of this year.

Spots will fill up!!!!

Week 6(4/5): Brag Sheets & Junior College Meetings

Brag Sheet Information

Each junior is expected to complete a brag sheet. This is is a Google document with questions that help give the College Office as well as the teachers who will eventually write your recommendations more insight to your high school experience. It really helps us tailor our recommendations and advocate for students.

To find your individual brag sheet search in your Google Drive(Student Last Name, First Name - Brag Sheet) or you can find your brag sheet at the top of this page.

The only people who will have access to your brag sheet are teachers, your advisor, and College Office staff members.

Below is a Common Questions document for more directions on your brag sheet as well as an example you can refer to that helps outlining how to answer each question(we strongly recommend looking at the example as you answer your own questions).

BRAG SHEETS ARE DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 16TH!

You do not need to submit them anywhere. The College Office team will start reviewing them after the deadline and will let you know if more information is needed.

Week 4(3/15): Opportunity Programs

We have the initial powerpoint on the left in English with a video in English in the middle that explains the information as well as the powerpoint in Spanish.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS OF OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM:

Although the income requirement is based on your 2020 taxes, please keep in mind these programs are for historically disadvantaged families, meaning meeting these income requirements over multiple years. While schools will not require other information from other tax years besides 2020, we warn that they could. If you now financially qualify for these programs due to the pandemic, but haven't in the past or likely won't in the future, please note that you should not be applying for opportunity programs.
